KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Maurice Foster of Oklahoma Baptist has been named the NAIA National Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Foster was selected based on his performances from Jan. 24-30 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.


Foster, a 6-3 junior guard from New Orleans, La., put up a career game in the 105-93 victory against then-No. 12 Southern Nazarene (Okla.) in the NAIA Game of the Week. On Jan. 29, he tied a Bison season-best with 35 points on 12-for-23 (.522) shooting. He grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds, had five assists and five steals.

In the first win of the week, a 98-79 triumph over Saint Gregory's (Okla.) on Jan. 24, he went for 19 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Three nights later, he posted 30 points on 13-for-16 shooting (.813), to go along with six rebounds, five assists and four steals. That game was against Science & Arts (Okla.) in the 97-73 victory.
 
On the week, he averaged 28.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.7 steals. He shot 61.1 percent (33-for-54) from the field and 93.3 percent (14-for-15) from the free throw line.
 
In national statistics, Foster ranks 14th in steals (2.3 spg) and 18th in scoring (18.4 ppg).
