Oklahoma Baptist completed its trip to Arkansas with a men's victory in
the Hendrix Relays Saturday, giving the state of Oklahoma its second
college swim win in as many days and the first two college swim wins
since 1985 when the University of Oklahoma ended its program.
The Bison won the Relays with 426 points, edging Henderson State at 402, followed by Centenary at 360, Texas-Permian Basin at 342, Sewanee at 342, McMurry at 260, Rhodes at 124 and Hendrix at 90.
"Henderson State competed with us well, but what a thrill to emerge victorious," said OBU Coach
Sam Freas. "The kids raced much better than I would have imagined."
OBU qualified in every relay event the NAIA championship offers.
The Lady Bison, with 413 points, placed second to Henderson State at 426. Centenary was third at 366, followed by Arkansas-Little Rock at 340, Sewanee at 303, UTPB at 300, Hendrix at 240, McMurry at 200 and Rhodes at 216.
Dennis Noyles won Saturday's one-meter diving competition with 455 points while Daniel Robbins won the three-meter at 235.
Daniel Ramirez, Gilles Cantrelle, Nick Shuttinger and Javier Sosa won the 400 medley relay in 3:22.25 with the national qualifying time.
The men's 200 freestyle relay squad of Logan Lassley, Mateo Maciuniak, Jacob Phillips and AJ Barbar won the race with a national qualifying time of 1:25.25.
Amdrew Nelson, Tom Bullock, Alvaro Brice and Sosa won the 800 free relay in 7:07.69 to qualify.
Maciuniak, Greg Penny, Garland Sullivan and Barbar won the 200 medley relay in 1:36.48.
Maciuniak, Sosa, Ramirez and Shuttinger finished third in the 400 free relay with a qualifying time of 3:11.37.
Nelson, Bullock and Max Abreu won the 1500 free relay in 14:46.83.
Shuttinger, Maciuniak and Cantrelle won the 300 medley relay in 2:42.83, while Ramirez, Sullivan and Abreu took the 300 butterfly relay in 2:34.31.

Jessica Bragason won the 400 medley in 3:59.95, qualifying for nationals.

Lauren Spray qualified for nationals with a second-place 8:19.38 in the 800 freestyle relay.
Mullin, Lizzy Dewitt, Yong and
Grace Peters placed second in the 200 medley relay with a national qualifying time of 1:53.77.

Caysi Sykes, Young and
Kathleen Debus were sixth in the 200 freestyle relay but qualified for nationals at 1:47.85.
Mullin Galarza and Dewitt won the 300 breaststroke relay in 3:26.70. Mullin, Wilson and Dewitt also won the 300 medley relay in 3:08.94.
OBU next swims Nov. 5 at Arkansas-Little Rock.
