With the Bison and Lady Bison well down in the national rankings, about
the only hope Oklahoma Baptist has of reaching the national meet is to
win the Sooner Athletic Conference championship Saturday at Gordon
Cooper Technology Center.
While there is one more NAIA Top 25 ranking, due out on Sunday, the Bison would be hard-pressed to make up ground without winning the SAC title and doing that would give OBU an automatic berth to the national meet.
In the last men's poll, released Tuesday, Oklahoma Christian is the favorite, ranked 22nd. The Bison received votes and are No. 29, while Southern Nazarene is 31st.
On the women's side, Wayland Baptist is the overwhelming favorite, ranked sixth in the NAIA. The Lady Bison are the second-highest ranked team in the SAC, coming in at 37th.
The day starts with the women's race at 9:30 a.m.
