Oklahoma Baptist University’s swimming and diving teams were two of only six NAIA programs to earn the College Swimming Coaches Association of America’s Scholar All America Team Awards for the 2011 fall semester.

OBU and Union College were the only schools in the NAIA to have both their men’s and women’s teams earn the honor.

The OBU, with a team grade point average of 3.2, were second only to Savannah College of Art and Design at 3.27. Union College was the only other men’s team to earn the honor on the men’s side at 3.1.

On the women’s side, Morningside (3.15), Union (3.09) and OBU (3.07) were the three schools in the NAIA to earn the award.

The Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (winter/spring).

The College Swimming Coaches Association is the oldest coaches’ organization in America. In addition to Scholar All American Awards, the CSCAA recognizes All American Swimmers and Divers at the national championships every year.
