Men's Swimming - Fri, Mar. 2, 2012
Oklahoma Baptist made a splash with a meet record, its first two national event champions and the lead in the men's standings in the second day of the NAIA National Swimming and Diving Championships in Oklahoma City Thursday.

The Bison lead the team standings with 249 points after Javier Sossa, Gilles Cantrelle, Andrew Nelson and Nick Schuttinger won the 800 freestyle relay in 6:39.17 for a meet record.

Fresno Pacific is just five points behind and Concordia has 194 points.

The Lady Bison also got their first national champion as Nicole Wilson won the 500 freestyle in 4:56.90. Alice Oggionni was sixth in that race at 5:04.51 and Holly Trumble 16th at 5:22.18.

The Lady Bison are second with 196 points, trailing Fresno Pacific by 67 points.

The women's 800 freestyle relay would have had a meet record as well, beating the old mark with a 7:31.32, but they finished second in the race to FPU, who set a new record. That Lady Bison foursome was Wilson, Laura Galarza, Oggionni and Jessica Bragason.

The Lady Bison 200 medley relay of Bragason, Kerryn Mullen, Galarza and Emma Forbes-Milne was third at 1:45.82 - again bettering the old record, but placing behind new record holders.

Forbes-Milne was fifth in the 50 free at 23.70 seconds with Galarza sixth at 23.99. Mullen was sixth in the 200 individual medley at 2:09.60.

For the Bison, Dennis Noyles was fourth in the one-meter diving at 262.65 and Jarrod Haynes was eighth at 195.20.

Mateo and Ivan Maciuniak tied for second in the 50 free at 20.43, followed by Logan Lassley in fifth at 20.47, Garland Sullivan in sixth at 20.52, AJ Barbar in ninth at 20.75 and Jacob Phillips in 11th at 21.02.
