KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kimmy Moore of Eastern Oregon has been named the NAIA National Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of The Week and Stacy Warrior of Oklahoma Baptist has been honored as the NAIA National Women's Track Athlete of The Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Moore and Warrior were selected based on their performances from April 2 - 8.
Moore, a senior from Noxen, Mont., cruised to the heptathlon victory at the
Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Championships from April 5 - 6. She tallied
4,481 points, well ahead of the second-place finisher, NyEma Sims of Concordia
(Ore.), who had 3,727 points. Moore's point total is the second-most ever at
the conference meet, and is third best on the Eastern Oregon all-time list.
That effort also easily broke her 2010 personal record of 4,259 points. She
currently holds the top mark in the NAIA this year.
Warrior, a sophomore from Wewoka, Okla., turned in the NAIA's best time this
year in the 400-meters with a 53.93 clocking at the NCAA Division I North Texas
Spring Classic on April 7. She finished ahead of a field that included six NCAA
Division I competitors. She also ran the first leg of the 4x100, which had the
second-best time in the NAIA this season (45.86). She also took eighth among 30
runners in the 200-meters (24.96). Overall, she had national qualifying marks
in all three events.
