Oklahoma Baptist whipped St. Gregory's in a seventh-inning run-rule Tuesday, 11-1, in Sooner Athletic Conference baseball action.

 

OBU celebrated Strikeout Cancer Night with a strong pitching performance by Johnathan Christensen (4-0) and a five-RBI performance by Daniel Baptista. Christensen allowed two hits in six shutout innings, striking out six batters.


 

OBU scored three in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Michael Sliger and a two-run single by Michael Cerda.

 

The Bison went ahead 6-0 in the third with an RBI double by Dillon Usiak and a two-run home run by Baptista.

 

OBU made it 7-0 in the fifth on an RBI grounder by Mitch Warne.

 

Baptista added a three-run home run in the sixth for a 1-0 lead.

 

The Cavaliers scored one in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Tyler Bento.

 

OBU ended the game with a run in the seventh when Frankie Rivera walked, stole second and scored on a two-out single by Greg Nelson.

 

The Bison had nine hits in the game, including three by Baptista and two by Nelson.

 

Now 36-10on the season and 17-6 in the SAC, the Bison host Northwestern Oklahoma State at 5 p.m., Thursday.
