McKinney Boyd High School senior Ashlynn Abbe has signed to play tennis at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Abbe, the daughter of Chris and Robin Abbe, has a USTA ranking of No. 5 in Girls 18 Singles and plays for the third-ranked team in Class 5A under Coach Kristen Crawford.

Abbe has been a state semifinalist and region and district champion and has been a four-year varsity player and is a team captain.

She has won the Sportsmanship Award and is an AP Scholar with Distinction and winner of the McKinney Independent School District Academic Excellence Award. She will graduate in the top 10 percent of her class.

Abbe plans to major in biology at OBU.

"I chose to come to OBU because of the atmosphere," Abbe said. "OBU is so full of positive energy, faithful leaders, academic rigor and strong athletic programs."
