
Van Alstyne (Texas) All-State running back Jordan Barnes has signed to play football at Oklahoma Baptist.
Barnes rushed for 2,703 yards in 2011 and had the fifth-most rushing yards in a game with 522 for Coach Mikeal Miller. He also had a 314-yard game against Celina. He was All-State in Class 3A and was District 10-3A Most Valuable Player. His honors also included All-Texomaland Class 3A-4A MVP, the Ford Built Tough Award and the Marine Corps Elite Warrior of the Week.
In 2010 he was All-District at linebacker and running back and set the school record in the squat at 535 pounds.
The son of Tim and Amy Barnes, Jordan intends to major in business.
Barnes said he picked OBU for "the ability to get a great education and win a national championship with a newly created football team."
