Eighth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist completed its season sweep of St. Gregory's and locked up the No. 2 seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, 8-4, Tuesday.

 

OBU scored two runs in the top of the first on RBI singles by Michael Sliger and Daniel Baptista.


 

SGU cut it to 2-1 in the first on an RBI fielder's choice by Trevor Nelson and tied it in the third on home run by Trey Sears.

 

OBU made it 3-2 in the seventh when Dillon Usiak doubled and scored on a single by Sliger, but the Cavaliers tied it in the home half on a Bison error.

 

Greg Nelson walked, stole second and eventually scored on a wild pitch for a 4-3 lead.

 

The Bison added four in the ninth on a two-run home run by Jorden Newton, an RBI single by Mitchell Prophet and a bases-loaded walk to Usiak.

 

SGU scored once in the ninth on a Jacob Douglas double.

 

Chad Hardison (9-2) got the win for the Bison, pitching into the ninth inning and logging eight strikeouts.

 

OBU had 12 hits in the game, including three by Newton and two each by Prophet, Usiak and Sliger.

 

Now 40-11 overall and 20-7 in the SAC, the Bison play at USAO Thursday in a 2 p.m. game to wrap up the regular season road schedule.
