One strike away from a victory, Oklahoma Baptist allowed a ninth-inning run and lost to Rogers State in the 11th inning, 5-4, in the NAIA Opening Round Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., Friday.

Cody Campbell had all five RBI for RSU.

The Bison must now win three straight to return to the NAIA World Series.

OBU took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a solo home run by Daniel Baptista and an RBI double by Jorden Newton.

The lead moved to 3-0 in the third on a sacrifice fly by Michael Cerda.

Rogers State scored two in the third on a single by Campbell.

The Bison made it 4-2 in the seventh on an RBI single by Dillon Usiak, but with bases loaded and no one out, Brandon Bargas worked out of the jam with no more damage.

Campbell had an RBI ground out to make it 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh and with two outs and facing an 0-2 count in the bottom of the ninth, Campbell worked the count to 2-2 before singling up the middle to tie the game.

The Bison had a runner at second with one out in both the 10th and 11th but could not get the big hit. Rogers got Campbell back up for his fifth RBI in the bottom of the 11th after a rain delay with one out on a single to right center.

OBU out-hit Rogers State 14-8 with three each by Michael Sliger, Baptista and Newton. Newton had two doubles.

Jesus Colon was charged with the loss after not returning after the delay.

OBU plays at 3 p.m., Saturday, against Tabor or Judson. The winner plays Rogers State at 6:30 p.m. If the Bison win both of those games, they play Rogers State again Monday at 1 p.m.
