Oklahoma Baptist started its Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball schedule with a 3-1 win at Oklahoma City University Tuesday.

 

OBU won 25-15, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19. It is the Lady Bison's 19th consecutive regular season conference win, dating back to 2010.

 

After dominating the first set, the 11th-ranked Lady Bison led OCU by as many as eight points in the second set. OBU held on for the three-point win, but the Star carried the momentum into the third set to force the fourth.

 

The teams battled back and forth with OBU leading 19-18 before closing on a 6-1 run, including kills by Kristin Pressley and Skyler Strahm and a block by Patricia Moura.

 

OBU got 13 kills by Pressley, nine from Moura and seven by Strahm in the match. Sabra Clark had 34 assists and Pressley had three aces.

 

Defensively, Tarah Derden led with three blocks and Gabby Samuels had 23 digs, followed by Pressley with 16 and Carey Strong with 10.

 

Now 14-3 on the season and 1-0 in the SAC, the Lady Bison play their first home match of the season Thursday at 6 p.m., opposite Mid-America Christian.
