Fueled by a 1-2 finish by Adam Godwin and Cordell Baker, fourth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist scored a 26-34 win over No. 9 Southwestern Kansas Saturday in the Bison Invitational at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee.

  

Running fourth and fifth for most of the race, Godwin and Baker overtook the field in the final loop and claimed the top spots. Godwin crossed in 24:20, while Cordell Baker completed the eight kilometers in 24:27.

 

Cameron Sprague was fifth and Jory Custar sixth in 25:27 and 25:28, respectively. Neal Ellis finished the OBU scoring in 13th at 25:55. Zekarias Cates was 17th at 26:05 and Sam Whelan was 18th at 26:12, while Caleb Wolters also got in the top 20 at 19th at 26:12.

 

Austin Germiller was 33rd at 26:42, followed by Patrick Lee in 41st at 26:57, Zach Medlin in 49th at 27:19, Josiah Soap in 54th at 27:29, Zach Widener in 64th at 28:13 and Jabar Rolle in 98th at 32:05.

 

Following OBU and Southwestern Kansas were Rogers State at 144, Newman at 145, Arkansas-Fort Smith at 160, Oklahoma City at 162, St. Gregory's at 186, John Brown at 211, Southwestern Christian at 220, Northwood at 230 and USAO at 322.

 

OBU returns to action Oct. 20 at the NAIA Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan.
