Oklahoma Baptist spotted Central Methodist four first-inning runs but rallied for a 7-6 victory in the NAIA Opening Round Baseball Tournament in Hattiesburg, Miss., Friday.



Weather-permitting, the Bison play another elimination game at 7 p.m. against South Carolina-Beaufort.


The Eagles scored four runs on five hits and an error in the bottom of the first but Jordan Morales (7-2) allowed just three hits and no runs over the next five innings.


Anthony Almonte had an RBI single in the second to get the Bison on the scoreboard and Jeff Johnson trimmed the CMU lead to 4-2 with a third-inning sacrifice fly.


Almonte added an RBI double in the fourth to cut the lead to 4-3.


OBU overtook the Eagles in the top of the fifth on an RBI singles by Kevin Hatch and Greg Nelson for the 5-4 lead.


Two more scored for OBU in the sixth on an error and an RBI single by Hatch.


Richard Lucas pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Jesus Carlos got through the ninth for his fourth save of the season, despite allowing two runs.


The Bison had 14 hits with Hatch and Almonte getting three apiece. Garrett Roberts and Matt Page had two hits each.


OBU improved to 42-18 with the win.
