Oklahoma Baptist got the hitting and - for one game - pitching to claim a 10-0, 10-9 sweep of Briar Cliff Monday at Bison Field at Ford Park.

OBU collected 22 hits in the two games, including seven doubles and a home run.

The Bison needed less than five innings to dispatch the Chargers in the first game.

OBU took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI ground out by Josh Collazo, who finished the game with five RBI.

OBU added four in the second on RBI singles by Chad Dawkins and Justin Trejo, a sacrifice fly by Billy Thomas and an RBI single by Collazo.

The lead enlarged to 8-0 in the fourth on Collazo's three-run home run. It was his sixth round-tripper of the season.

OBU ended the game on the run-rule with one out in the bottom of the fifth when Trejo doubled and later scored on an error before Thomas doubled home Shea Brown with the game-ending run.

Tyler Duran (2-0) tossed a five-inning one hitter to pick up the win. The Chartgers broke up the no-hit bid in the top of the fifth. Duran had five strikeouts and walked two.

The Bison had nine hits in the game, led by Thomas, Collazo and Trejo with two each. Thomas had two doubles.

OBU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the second game on a sacrifice fly by Jonathan Carnes, but fell behind 3-1 heading into the bottom of the second.

The Bison tied the score with two in the second on an RBI double by Vic Manzano and an RBI single by Thomas.

Briar Cliff scored three more in the third for a 6-3 lead, but OBU fired back with four in the third on a two-run single by Dawkins and a two-run double by Manzano for a 7-6 edge.

The Bison added the last three in the fourth. Dawkins produced an RBI single and Anthony Ramirez brought in one on a single, with a second run scoring on a throwing error during the same play.

Chase Jestice (1-0) pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.

Briar Cliff made things interesting with two in the sixth. The Chargers added one in the seventh and had the tying run at third before Arvin Perez induced a ground out to shortstop Thomas to end the game.

The Bison had 13 hits, led by Trejo with three, while Collazo and Manzano had two doubles each and Carnes and Dawkins had two singles each.

Now 7-1, the Bison open Sooner Athletic Conference action Thursday when Wayland Baptist and OBU play the first night game at Ford Park. The doubleheader begins at 4 p.m.
