Oklahoma Baptist had no trouble taking its first night game, sweeping a
twinbill from Hillsdale Free Will Baptist Monday, 15-4 and 11-0.
Hillsdale walked 10 Bison in the first game and OBU needed just seven hits to gain the win.
After giving up a run in the top of the first, the Bison struck for six runs in the bottom of the inning after Hillsdale got the first two batters out. Victor Manzano and Josh Kirkpatrick drew back-to-back bases-loaded walks before Matt Welch ripped a grand slam to left.
OBU tacked on seven more in the second with an RBI double by Arin Fowble, an run-scoring walk by Justin Trejo, a sacrifice fly by Manzano, a two-run double by Welch and an RBI double by Billy Thomas.
Anthony Ramirez homered to start the third and Austin Berg ripped an RBI double to complete the scoring in the third.
Spencer Hylander went the distance to get the win, allowing three earned runs while fanning six in five innings.
Chase Jestice and Ryan Stavert combined on a three-hit shutout in the second with Jestice getting the win.
OBU got anotgher six-run first inning as Chad Dawkins homered to start the home half. Trejo added an RBI triple and Berg furnished a three-run double.
Trejo had an RBI single and Manzano and Billy Jarka added RBI doubles during a four-run Bison second to push the lead to 10-0. The final run came in the third on an RBI single by Thomas.
OBU had 13 hits in the game, including two each by Thomas, Trejo and Jarka.
The Bison resume Sooner Athletic Conference action Friday at Lubbock Christian.
