Oklahoma Baptist ended a come-from-behind rally with a walk-off single
in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Calumet College of St. Joseph 10-9
Tuesday night.
Arin Fowble singled with one out and two aboard, driving home Chad Dawkins with the game-winning run.
The Crimson Wave score nine runs, including three unearned runs, as OBU committed seven errors.
OBU scored three times in the third to break a scoreless tie on RBI doubles by Josh Collazo and Josh Kirkpatrick around a run-scoring error.
The Bison went up 4-1 in the fourth on when Collazo doubled and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
CCSJ got within 4-3 in the sixth, but the Bison made it 5-3 in the bottom of the inning when Billy Thomas scored on a double play grounder.
The Crimson Wave then broke free for six runs in the top of the seventh for a 9-5 edge before Ryan Stavert (1-1) closed the door in 2.1 innings of scoreless pitching.
OBU got within 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI fielders choice by Billy Jarka and a two-run triple by Thomas.
The Bison tied the game in the eighth on a wild pitch and won it in the ninth when Dawkins singled and Thomas walked to help set up the winning hit by Fowble.
Collazo had four hits to lead the Bison's 15-hit explosion, while Dawkins added three and Thomas, Fowble, and Kirkpatrick tacked on two each.
Now 16-6 on the season, the Bison play at Bacone Wednesday.
