Brent Robison scattered nine hits to pick up a 3-1 win over Southern
Nazarene right after the Crimson Storm hung a 19-4 loss on the Bison of
Oklahoma Baptist in a Sooner Athletic Conference doubleheader Monday.
The win was big after the drubbing in the first game.
In the opener, SNU blew open a close game with a four-run fifth and made it a laugher with a nine-run seventh.
The Crimson Storm had a four-run first inning, but the Bison got one of those back on an errant throw.
The Bison tied the game 4-4 in the third on a solo home run by Chad Dawkins and a two-run double by Josh Kirkpatrick.
OBU got five more hits but no more runs in the game, stranding a dozen. Billy Thomas, Josh Collazo and Kirkpatrick had two hits each.
Justin Trejo (1-1) took the loss.
OBU broke out on top in the first inning on a two-out RBI double by Arin Fowble. SNU tied the game 1-1 on a Sam Mercado homer in the second.
The Bison left seven runners on through the first four innings of the second game.
OBU broke through with a clutch hit in the fifth. Fowble doubled, Austin Berg was hit by a pitch and with two outs, Victor Manzano got a two-run ground-rule double for a 3-1 Bison lead.
That was all the advantage Robison (6-1) needed. He completed the game and finished with four strikeouts.
OBU was held to six hits in the game, getting two each from Fowble and Manzano.
Now 27-12 overall and 7-11 in the SAC, the Bison host Oklahoma City Thursday at 6 p.m. for a single nine-inning game.
