Oklahoma Baptist survived a rough 17th hole and shot par on the 18th as a team to claim a one-stroke win over Southwestern College (Kan.) in the Bison Invitational at the Shawnee Country Club Tuesday.

The Bison won the nine-team tournament with a team 306, edging out Southwestern's 307. Arkansas-Fort Smith was third at 315, followed by Seminole State at 319, the Southern Nazarene junior varsity at 329, Western Oklahoma at 336, Northwestern Oklahoma State at 350, Bacone at 355 and John Brown at 365.

"We got another win," said OBU coach Rick Cody. "It wasn't pretty, but we got it."

Southern Nazarene won the women's tournament with a 344, followed by Southwestern College at 358, UAFS at 377, OBU at 379, NWOSU at 389, Seminole State at 393, Panhandle State at 414 and Western Oklahoma at 428.

Matt McKown of UAF won the men's individual title with a 72, finishing one stroke ahead of Alex Hamilton of OBU.

Hamilton led the OBU contingent at 73, collecting three birdies along the way. Xavier Diana tied for sixth at 77, followed by Chase Lindsey and Clement Batut, tied for ninth at 78. Arnaud Cotton had a 79 to finish 12th.

Also for the Bison, Zac Rawls was 12th at 79 and Casady Fletcher was 40th at 93, both golfing as individuals apart from the team scoring.

Blair Koehn of Southwestern won the women's individual title at 79, just edging SNU's Andrea Rojas.

The Lady Bison were led in Kali Schmidt in eighth place with a 92, while Amy Mashburn was ninth at 93. Laura Cummins was 20th with a 96, followed by Allison Box in 22nd with a 98 and Amanda Hillemeyer in 30th with a 105. Sherri Marsh took 36th with a 111.

OBU's men will next play in Indianapolis April 13 and the Lady Bison make their final stand April 20 at the SAC Tournament in Oklahoma City. The Bison will host the SAC men's tournament April 27.
