Oklahoma Baptist got a much-needed Sooner Athletic Conference road win Thursday, outlasting Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, 12-8.

The Bison moved to within two games of a postseason berth with the win.

OBU broke a scoreless tie with a four-run, third inning explosion. Billy Thomas led off with his seventh home run of the season and after a Chad Dawkins walk, Josh Collazo clouted his 15th home run for a 3-0 lead. Josh Kirkpatrick added an RBI double.

Victor Manzano staked the Bison to a 5-0 lead in the fifth with a sacrifice fly, but the Rangers answered with three in their half of the inning to make it a 5-3 game.

The Bison shot right back with five in the sixth on a two-run double by Dawkins, an RBI double by Collazo and a two-run home run by Arin Fowble. Fowble's home run was his fifth on the season.

Northwestern cut the lead to 10-4 before Justin Trejo launched his fourth homer of the season - a two-run shot for a 12-4 edge.

The Rangers scored the last four runs of the game.

Tyler Duran (7-3) went the distance for OBU, striking out seven.

The Bison had 16 hits in the game, including four by Trejo and two each by Thomas, Collazo, Fowble, Kirkpatrick and Billy Jarka.

Now 28-14 overall and 9-13 in the SAC, the Bison host the Rangers in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
