Oklahoma Baptist All-American Josh Collazo broke the career home run
record at OBU while the Bison went down in a doubleheader loss at
Northwood Tuesday, 11-7 and 14-3.
Collazo hit two home runs in the second game, giving him 18 on the season and Nos. 39 and 40 of his career. That breaks the former record of 38 held by Jim King since 1984. Collazo, who set the single season record with 22 last season, had solo shots in the first and fifth innings.
OBU's only other run in the nightcap was a solo home run by Chad Dawkins in the fifth. The Bison had six hits, with Dawkins and Collazo getting two each.
Arvin Perez (1-2) took the loss.
The first game saw OBU go ahead on the first at-bat, a solo home run by Billy Thomas on the first of his four hits in the game. Dawkins followed with a double and eventually scored on a ground out by Arin Fowble.
But Northwood scored seven times in the bottom of the first.
The Bison made it 7-4 in the third on a sacrifice fly by Dawkins and an RBI ground out by Collazo.
OBU trailed 11-4 before scoring three in the seventh inning on a three-run homer by Dawkins.
Thomas had two doubles, a single and a home run to pace OBU's 12-hit attack, while Dawkins, Fowble and Billy Jarka collected two hits each.
Tyler Duran dropped to 7-4 with the loss.
Now 30-17 on the season, the Bison host Bacone April 21 before returning to Sooner Athletic Conference action April 23 at home against Mid-America Christian. Both those dates are 6 p.m. starts.
