Ponca City pole vaulter David Gilliland has signed scholarship agreements and will be vaulting with Oklahoma Baptist University in the 2008-09 academic year.

Gilliland, the son of Lonnie and Cathie Gilliland, was seventh in the Class 6A State Championship with a vault of 14 feet. He also competed at the state level in the 300 hurdles.

Coached by Ford Mastin, Oklahoma Baptist is a powerhouse in the NAIA, having won a national championship in 2007 and finishing third in 2008.
