Women's Soccer - Fri, Sep. 4, 2009
A week after scoring six times in an exhibition, Courtney Anderson went
off for a hat trick in Oklahoma Baptist University's women's soccer
opener over Northwood Friday, in a 3-1 OBU win.
Anderson scored with an assist from Juanita Francis in the 22nd minute, booting home a carom off a shot by Francis for the 1-0 lead. Anderson had a ball in the goal less than five minutes later, this time with an assist from Marinne Burnham.
Helena Melin scored with under five minutes left in the half for the Knights to make it 2-1.
Anderson put the match out of reach with a goal in the 78th minute, working off a feed from Nataley Johnson.
"It was a real good start," said OBU coach Brent Coates. "Any win on the road is a good win. Northwood has a pretty decent team. Courtney had a great game and Sarah Kathryn Robinson played well in goal."
Now 1-0, the Lady Bison plat at Texas Wesleyan at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
