Oklahoma Baptist University's Bison cross country team dominated the
field, including fourth-ranked Oklahoma Christian, in the Bison
Invitational Saturday - and it could have been a wider gap.
Running at Gordon Cooper Technology Center, Craig Donnelley of OBU had
a huge lead but made a wrong turn late in the race and was disqualified.
While the error gave the individual victory to East Central's Jim Sutrick (25:43), it didn't keep the 18th-ranked Bison from winning the meet.
Nathan Ellis slogged through the mud in a time of 25:59 to finish third overall and lead the OBU group to a first-place 35 with all five scorers across among the first 11 attached runners.
Southwestern Kansas finished second at 54, followed by East Central with 63, Oklahoma Christian with 71 and Langston with 155.
Neal Ellis was fifth (sixth including unattached runners) in 26:05. Brandon Dickinson was ninth in 26:25, Louie Cook was 11th in 26:32 and Caleb Clark was 14th in 26:37.
Michael Ivison was 16th in 26:41 and Trevor Martin was 20th in 27:08.
Also for OBU, Nick Blackwell was 26th in 27:25, Jordan Sinclair was 27th in 27:27, Ryan Brooks was 36th in 28:00, Nick Hermes was 40th in 28:30.1, Kyle Craddock was 41st in 28:30.3, Ben Moore was 46th in 28:47 and Dustin O'Day was 49th in 29:12.
Next action for the Bison is Oct. 24 at the Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan.
