After trailing by as many as nine during the first half, second-ranked
Oklahoma Baptist tore through Lubbock Christian on the way to an 85-71
Sooner Athletic Conference basketball win Saturday in Shawnee.
The Bison struggled to one of their worst-shooting halves of the season, hitting 43 percent in the first half and missing six of seven three-point attempts. Meanwhile, Lubbock Christian took the lead midway through the first half and had a38-29 advantage with 3:09 left in the half.
OBU got the lead down to four, 40-36, by halftime.
The Bison were down seven 19 seconds into the second half, before Nate Brumfield fed Garrett Steinmetz for a basket to trigger an 11-0 run. Steinmetz had five points and Brumfield four in the charge.
Brumfield scored twice more on lay-ups and Steinmetz canned a three-pointer for a 54-44 OBU edge with 14:46 to go.
The Bison used a pair of 7-0 runs to pull out to a 74-59 edge and then went 8-for-8 at the line in an 8-0 run to seize an 83-61 advantage with 2:40 left.
