Oklahoma Baptist finished off the Wayland Baptist series with a
come-from-behind victory 12-10 on Saturday to take the series two games
to one.
OBU, which had 23 hits in the game, came from six runs down to tie the score and then used a five-run ninth inning to pull off the victory.
The Pioneers struck for six runs in the first inning.
The Bison got three of those back in the third. Shea Brown tripled and scored on Justin Trejo's sacrifice fly. Victor Manzano added an RBI double and another run scored on an error.
OBU tied the score with three more in the fourth on a three-run home run by Trejo.
Wayland Baptist scored twice in the fourth for an 8-6 lead but the Bison made it 8-7 in the fifth when Trejo drew a bases-loaded walk.
Trailing 9-7 in the ninth, OBU came up big. With one out, Sean Iago singled ahead of a two-run home run by Billy Jarka to tie the score. With two out, Trejo and Manzano singled before Anthony Ramirez belted an RBI double and Austin Berg came through with a two-run single.
Tyler Duran pitched the last 8.1 innings to get the win.
Jarka had four hits for the Bison, while Brown, Trejo, Manzano Ramirez and Iago had three each and Berg had two.
Now 25-7 overall and 6-6 in the SAC, the Bison host Lubbock Christian Friday and Saturday.
