Oklahoma Baptist fashioned a 13-3 run-rule win behind two home runs by
Victor Manzano at St. Gregory's but later was eliminated from the
postseason Thursday.
Just as OBU was polishing off the second win over SGU this week,
Northwestern Oklahoma State recorded a win over USAO to get to 15 Sooner
Athletic Conference wins and hours later, Rogers State pummeled
Oklahoma Christian, 24-8, for its 15th win. OBU can get to 15 wins with a
victory on Saturday but all three of the teams OBU could potentially tie
all have 2-1 series tiebreakers over the Bison.
The Bison scored five times in the first inning on an RBI double by Anthony Ramirez, a sacrifice fly by Anthony Lopez, a two-run homer by Manzano and an RBI single by Jonathan Gelpi.
Trey Sears homered to put the Cavaliers on the board in the second.
OBU got back-to-back home runs in the third by Lopez and Manzano to take a 7-1 lead.
The Bison added five more in the fifth on a three-run home run by Bam Davis, an error, and an RBI single by Trejo.
The Cavaliers got a two-run home run by Landon Boler in the fifth.
OBU added the final run in the fifth when Davis singled home Lopez.
The Bison had 18 hits in the game, including four by Davis, three by Manzano and two each by Trejo and Lopez.
Tyler Duran (5-2) got the win with 3.2 innings of relief.
Now 37-16 overall and 14-15 in the SAC, the Bison finish the season with Senior Night, Pack the Park style Saturday at 6 p.m. against the Cavaliers.
