Oklahoma Baptist has signed Allie Brandenburg of Concordia Lutheran High
School in Tomball, Texas, to play women's basketball for the 2010-11
season.
The Spring, Texas, resident has been nominated for 2010 Texas Christian Athlete of the Year. Brandenburg has been All-State and/or led Concordia to a State Championship in three sports. She plans on competing in the triple jump for the Lady Bison track team as well.
The 5-4 guard is Concordia's Female Athlete of the Year and was First-Team All-State and All-District this season in basketball, leading Coach Matt Neidigk's Crusaders to the State Final Four in Tapps 4A. She also was selected to the Large Private School All-State by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
She was Second-Team All-State as a junior and Academic All-State.
Brandenburg was Second-Team All-State and All-State Tournament while captaining the volleyball team to a state championship this year. She also was on the state champion 4x100 relay team, leading the track team to a sate crown.
She also is president of the American Sign Language Club and a member of the National Honor Society.
"I wanted to attend a small Christian university outside of Texas that had a great athletic program as well as strong academics," said Brandenburg. "I was very impressed with Coach McCullough and the school on my college visit!"
