Amarillo Highland Park High School standout Jana Swann has signed to play volleyball at Oklahoma Baptist University starting in the fall.

Swann, a 5-8 outside hitter, was 2009 District Offensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-District selection. She was an Amarillo Globe News Super Team selection and helped Coach Sarah Hallum's team to three bi-district championships.


She had 703 kills, 322 assists, 209 blocks, 536 digs and 139 aces in her three last three seasons of high school. She also competes for PVP Rox 18 under Coach David Hahn.

Swann also was All-District three years in basketball, a two-time region qualifier in track and a district doubles champion in tennis.

She also has done well academically, earning salutatorian status, four-year All-A Honor Roll, Academic All-State and several Outstanding Student honors. She also was a regional qualifier in the UIL Spelling and Vocabulary competition. Swann also has been on the Student Council three years, Teen Leadership Amarillo/Canyon for two years and was the 2010 Prom Queen.

The daughter of Jeff and Jill Swann, Jana will major in interdisciplinary studies at OBU.

"I love the fact that OBU is a smaller Christian school with an outstanding academic reputation," Swann said. "The campus is beautiful, a place I will feel comfortable calling home. I love the coaches and respect what they've accomplished here."
