A coaching change in Florida resulted in a huge gain for Oklahoma
Baptist as Oklahoma Coaches Association Female Athlete of the Year
Brenna Burnett signed Thursday to play basketball for the Lady Bison.
Burnett had committed to Palm Beach Atlantic, but after a coaching change there, the leader of Dale High School's state championship team will play close to home at OBU.
Coached at Dale by her father, Benny Burnett, the 5-10 forward is an All-State selection and was MVP of the Little All-City girl's basketball game, scoring 15 points and leading the team in rebounds. She averaged 16.7 points and 5.5 rebounds her seniors season.
Burnett said she chose OBU because "When I visited here, it felt like coming home, Especially because my dad coached me all that time, It means a lot that he can still come and watch me play."
"She's a good fit for OBU. We're getting a great person who can play basketball," said OBU Coach McCullough. "She's got the whole character for OBU - academically strong and a great athlete, and she's from a winning program."
