Oklahoma Baptist All-American and 2010 NAIA Player of the Year Nate Brumfield has signed a professional contract to play basketball in Mexico.

Brumfield is the newest member of the Quintana Roo Pioneros of the 20-team LNBP.

"He is one of the most physical players we have this year," said Pioneros vice president Wilberth Flores. "This is undoubtedly one of the best acquisitions because we will have a strong presence in the paint to battle the best teams in the league."

Brumfield, a 2010 senior from Rochester, N.Y., led the Bison to its first national championship since 1966 and a 33-3 record.  He was First-Team All-America, NAIA and Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and Chuck Taylor Most Valuable Player of the NAIA Tournament. He was a seven-time SAC Player of the Week.

He led the nation with a .683 field goal percentage and was second in the NAIA with 777 points on the season. He also was fifth nationally with a SAC-leading 22.2 points per game. He also was 12th nationally in total steals, 13th in total rebounds and 30th in assists. He was the first-ever Bison to lead his team in scoring, rebounding (8.3) assists (3.7) and steals (2.1) per game.

Brumfield is OBU's first NAIA Player of the Year since 2002 when DuJuan Brown won the award.
