Casi Bays, the Sooner Athletic Conference career record-holder for
three-point baskets, has returned to Oklahoma Baptist University as
assistant coach of the women's basketball team.
A 2002 OBU graduate, Bays comes to OBU from Newcastle High School, where she had been head girls basketball coach since 2006. She led the Lady Racers to two Class 4A quarterfinal appearances and was a two-time Canadian Valley Coach of the Year.
She coached the 2010 West All-State team, the 2009 Jim Thorpe All-Stars and the 2008 Little All-City team.
Bays, then Casi Cox, was All-State in both basketball and softball at Newcastle High School. She came to OBU as a freshman and was second-team All-America in 2002, honorable mention All-America in 2001, a four-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference selection and the 1999 SAC Freshman of the Year.
She holds the OBU and SAC career record for three-pointers made with 378 and the single game OBU mark with 10 three-pointers in a game. She finished her Lady Bison career with 1, 876 points, ranking her sixth on the all-time OBU scoring list.
Bays, 30, is married to Bryan Bays and has one daughter, Peyton Alexis Bays, who was born earlier this year.
