Doug Tolin - Head Coach
In eight years at OBU, Doug Tolin has taken the Bison to eight appearances at the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Championship Tournament.

Tolin claimed back-to-back Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors for 2002 and 2003. In 2002, Tolin coached the NAIA Division I National Player of the Year - Dujuan Brown. The Bison won the conference regular season title for three consecutive seasons from 2002-04, and have won two of the past five conference tournaments.

Former head boys basketball coach at Norman High School, Tolin became OBU's 17th head men's basketball coach in May 2000. He has compiled a 220-64 record. He was named to the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2008.

Tolin, who served as executive secretary of the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association for more than a decade, established a record of 117-44 at Norman High School. His Tigers won the 1999 Class 6A State Tournament and were runners-up in 2000 and in 1996.

He coached four regional and area champions and reached the State Tournament four times with Norman. He also coached Ada High School and Bartlesville High School to State Tournament appearances.

A 1975 graduate of East Central University, Tolin holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in secondary education, also from ECU. He attended Bartlesville Sooner High School, graduating in 1971. He is an inductee in the ECU Athletic Hall of Fame.

He was selected OBCA, Oklahoma Coaches Association and All-City Coach of the Year in 1999 and owns more than 10 other conference, regional and district Coach of the Year awards. He has accumulated 555 wins in his 30 years of coaching.

Oklahoma Baptist named Kyle Tolin as its assistant men's basketball coach prior to the 2006-07 season.
Tolin, who played four years for the Bison and has worked the last two seasons as a graduate assistant for OBU athletics, was named assistant coach for the men's program in 2006.

A member of OBU's 1000-Point Club, Kyle Tolin was an honorable mention All-SAC selection and an SAC Player of the Week in his career. He played in every game in his four-year career at point guard, averaging 4.3 assists per game for his career.
 
He has the unique perspective of the OBU game plan, having played for his father through high school and all four years of college and running the game plan as the point guard.
 

Kyle is married to the former Lisa Hansen.


 
Kortney Smith Image
Kortney Smith - Grad Assistant

Former Bison starter Kortney Smith returns as the graduate assistant for the Bison in the 2007-08 season.

 

An OBU graduate, Smith finished his OBU playing career in 2007 and led the Sooner Athletic Conference in assist, earning honorable mention All-Conference honors. He played as a starting point guard in two national tournaments for the Bison and led the team in assists both seasons. Smith played in all 68 games, starting 67, in his two-year career here.

 

Prior to coming to OBU, Smith attended Grayson County College. A graduate of Lancaster High School in Texas, Smith was a First-Team All-State selection.
