SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist tennis has named Andrew Dobbs as assistant coach prior to the 2016-17 season, the university announced Thursday afternoon.

Dobbs will join head coach Peter McCorkle as an assistant for both the men's and women's programs.

Dobbs, a native of Carrollton, Texas, comes to the OBU staff after one season at West Alabama, where he was named Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division II South Region Assistant Coach of the Year. He assisted the men to an 11-12 record and a semifinal appearance in the Gulf South Conference championship. The women's team posted a 15-7 record and earned the No. 27 ranking in the final ITA national poll.

Prior to UWA, Dobbs, was the assistant women's coach at McNeese State for two seasons.

Dobbs graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology in 2013. He earned his Master's in Health and Human Performance from McNeese State in 2015.

The Bison finished 18-9 last season, while the Lady Bison posted a 23-4 record and were the regular season undefeated champions of the Great American Conference in 2016.
