One of three male international students, Schaefer returns to the OBU squad for his senior year of competition. Choosing OBU "because of the great (tennis) team," He earned top honors in the sport including the 2007-2008 Men's Tennis MVP, the Guga Award for Outstanding All-Around Performance 2008-2009, 2008 Regional Men's Doubles Champion (with partner Bruno Scacalossi), and the 2009 NAIA "Player to Watch Award." Gustavo is the son of Silvia Gevaerd and Aderbal Schaefer.
