Choosing OBU "because of the great (tennis) team," He earned top honors in the sport including the 2007-2008 Men's Tennis MVP, the Guga Award for Outstanding All-Around Performance 2008-2009, 2008 Regional Men's Doubles Champion (with partner Bruno Scacalossi), and the 2009 NAIA "Player to Watch Award." Gustavo is the son of Silvia Gevaerd and Aderbal Schaefer.
