The surprise of 2009, Tunnell earned All-Conference honors after being recruited as a junior varsity player her freshman season. She started 51 games and led the team with 30 RBI. She was a 2008 Slow-pitch All-State selection at Sapulpa High. The daughter of Bennie and Stephanie Tunnell, Alison picked OBU because of "the good Christian atmosphere."
