JoBeth is a President's Honor Roll student at OBU and earned the Lorennie Berry Bateman endowed scholarship. She came to OBU from Texas Christian, where she was in the honors program and made the Dean's List. At Crook County High School, JoBeth was valedictorian and twice placed in the top 10 at the Oregon State Tournament under Coach Grant Patterson. She also was Miss Prineville 2008 and participated in the 2008 Miss Oregon pageant. The daughter of Brad and Beta Hamon, JoBeth is the sister of OBU soccer player JJ Hamon. She came to OBU because "OBU offered a great education and atmosphere to equip me to pursue a career in Biblical counseling."
