Ryan joins the Bison swim team as a freshman from Frisco, Texas. Ryan attended Centennial High School where he earned All-American awards and was named All-State five times. He is the son of Walter and Kristi McElheney, and he has two siblings: Wesley and Rebecka. Although Ryan was recruited by Hindrix, McMurry, and Henderson; Ryan chose to come to OBU because of "the atmosphere and the swim program."
