Marissa was an honors graduate, National Honor Society member, Wendy's High School Heisman, Academic All-State and All-District at Burkburnett High School under Coach Patrick Birk. She played club soccer with Genesis, Mustangs and Texas Football Club. She is the daughter of Dawn and Mark Stephens and the sister of Mark Jr. Her mother played volleyball and her father played basketball in college. Marissa was recruited by McMurry, Letourneau and Wayland Baptist and selected OBU because "God pulled me toward OBU and the environment is so friendly and the soccer team is awesome."
