Oklahoma Baptist placed four athletes on the Capital One Academic All-District 7 Track and Cross Country Teams for 2012-13.

Cordell Baker was the lone men's recipient, while Evan Shimanek, Hannah Helker and Aspen Marical were included on the women's side.

Twenty-four Oklahoma Baptist track and field athletes captured 43 All-America honors at the 2013 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Marion, Ind., last weekend.

Akela Jones and Derik Douglas were the most-honored athletes with four All-America awards each, with Jones also being named Women's Most Valuable Performer.

Oklahoma Baptist placed 10 student athletes on the NAIA Scholar Athlete list for 2013 outdoor track and field.

The award requires a cumulative 3.50 grade point average and junior or higher academic status.

MARION, Ind. – Oklahoma Baptist took runner-up honors in both men's and women's standings in the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday.

MARION, Ind. - Oklahoma Baptist picked up two relay national runners-up finishes and sent several athletes to Saturday's finals at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships Friday.

Heading into Saturday's final day, the Lady Bison are second in the team standings at 23.75 and the OBU men are 12^th with 10 points.

MARION, Ind. – Akela Jones and Evan Shimanek put Oklahoma Baptist on the first-day scoreboard at the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday.

Jones recorded a personal-best in the long jump, clearing 20-10 to win OBU's first national title of the meet.  Jones reached that distance on her second jump in the finals and passed on the third to avoid injury, winning by nearly a foot. She is in several other events this meet.
